VISIONS, Inc. One-Day Workshops
"Creating Equity: Challenging Racism and other Oppressions”
Workshops Designed for Educators, Parents & Anyone Working with Youth
Our notions of culture, race, ethnicity and gender roles are all being challenged and reshaped every day. In order to take organizations and communities to the next level of inclusiveness, we must begin to work with our youth to engage them in transforming the places where they live, and learn. Come to a one day workshop to learn how to support youth and community empowerment by providing tools for addressing important questions youth are facing today such as . . . How do we stop gun violence? How do we close the achievement gap? How do we address "power plays" (bullying, abusive behaviors, victimhood)?
In 2010, VISIONS, Inc. is coming to Greater Detroit, Boston, Fresno, and Durham to host workshops. The sessions are designed to help community based organizations, service providers, public health organizations, businesses, foundations, faith-based organizations, educators, school administrators and groups working with youth begin to do transformative work around multiculturalism and equity. The session will address strategies for engaging adults and youth.
Join us as we offer a day-long introductory workshop in your area designed to help groups start and/or get re-energized to continue the journey of working through a myriad of cultural and racial "isms" with young people.
Each session has a limited number of openings. Early registration is encouraged as sessions fill fast. The current registration fee is $250 per person. Register by March 19th for either of the first two sessions and by August 15 for either of the second two, you will pay $150 per person. Group rates can be arranged for three or more people who might come from the same organization/site.
