VISIONS Inc. has developed multicultural consultation and training services for primary, secondary, and post-secondary educational institutions.

We conduct training and offer consultations for organizational development and curriculum development in settings such as:

  • public and private elementary and secondary schools
  • colleges
  • universities
  • vocational and technical schools
  • graduate and professional schools

Our services are ideally suited for organizations or groups that are:

  • experiencing tension and growing pains in creating and maintaining a multicultural process
  • not yet culturally diverse but want to be
  • expecting to see major shifts in workplace demographics
  • seeking to improve creativity and productivity in a multicultural setting

Organizations can use the unique VISIONS’ model as a process to create a multicultural environment. Our process demonstrates creative ways to address the tension related to diversity issues. VISIONS provides practical and effective solutions which have been time tested in a variety of settings and are strongly grounded in behavioral research.

Participants have included trustees, presidents, chancellors, provosts, vice presidents, faculty, principals, teachers, students, parents, administrators, student organization leaders, and staff such as secretaries, security officers, and building and grounds personnel.

Special trainings have been designed for intact work teams such as the financial aid office, student groups, resident advisors, registrar’s office, library staff, or boards of directors and trustees.

Individuals and groups may use the training to generate new strategies for:

  • increasing the recruitment, retention and promotion of people of color and women in the educational system;
  • increasing awareness of the diversity of learning styles and corresponding teaching styles that can maximize all students’ learning;
  • increasing awareness of the challenges for students, faculty, and staff of color, particularly in predominantly white educational settings;
  • increasing the options for resolving conflicts and tensions through understanding the impact of intercultural and intra-cultural behaviors;
  • increasing knowledge of strategies for identifying interpersonal behaviors and organizational practices that a person may experience involving negative feelings related to sexism, racism, classism, or other “isms” and that may have a negative impact on historically targeted groups; and
  • developing support and understanding among boards, parents, community  leaders and stakeholders for the multicultural change process, including the need to maximize educational achievement for all groups.
